Capitalism just makes me want to write

I don’t know what it is about London that just makes me want to write. Not always of course. However, ever since I left the capital due to capitalism and poor mental health to try a slower pace of life with each visit it’s like my soul is screaming at me to put my words into paper. Or this case laptop screen. Just like Selena Gomez said back in 2009 “It comes naturally.” I’m sure the quote you expected from me was from Gomez Addams not the teen pop sensation who had a beef with a nepo-baby just as year ago.

Maybe it’s how fast paced this city is, maybe how the speed of this capitalistic hell moves and everyone here just always on the go and look to build and grow. Not only because of the passion but also because they need to survive. No wonder, the average room to rent tends to go for £1,200 and that’s in zone 4! And all of that speed calls for me to move back. Yes most people think about themselves first and the sense of community doesn’t feel like it’s there. Especially after Covid. Just a small detail that creates a huge divide between the North and the Capital. Or maybe that’s my outlook.

Maybe I view it like that because I finally don’t feel painfully lonely up North. Maybe I have found my tribe that love dearly. And even if nothing is permanent, I feel like I can finally breath while walking from Tate Modern to Soho. A brisk 30 mins walk but I take my time. I want to cherish every second I am in this city. Because next time I’m here I have no idea when and for how long. But I also had no idea I’d have the guts to publish these photos. Partly because these tie into someone that’s no longer in my life, someone that was a life lesson. But it’s also a daily reminder. A reminder of how resilient I am. A reminder that yeah people are not great but you can learn and grow from that. I hope. Anyway, I missed you. I’ll write soon! Till next time!
